Dear CKHS Families,

I am writing to you today to let you know of a unique situation that has evolved over the course of this winter. Due to the shift in the school calendar reflecting the usage of two available snow days and four actual days of cancellation, our last day of school for underclassmen will be June 19th. As a result, we find our seniors will not meet the minimum number of school days by two instructional days, according to state regulations. Therefore, we are scheduling a couple of “Senior Snow Make-Up” days.

One of the two days can be June 9th, the day after graduation, for a “Diploma Pick-Up Day”. We must, however, schedule one additional day prior to June 9th as an instructional school day. Our only available options for this are Saturdays between now and June 9th. We are scheduling Saturday, April 22nd from 8:30 AM to 12:00 as the “Senior Snow Makeup Day”. This day will be shorter than normal.

For this special day, we have come up with a number of meaningful activities students will be involved in. Below is a schedule of the day:

 8:30 – 8:45           Student/Teacher Contact Time

8:50 – 9:50           Senior Interest Sessions / Activities (Seniors Pick One)

  • Campus Cleanup / Environmental Discovery (Campus Grounds)
  • AP Study Sessions (Various)
  • Senior Mural Work Session (CK Cafeteria)
  • Your Financial Life After High School (Presented by the Kitsap Credit Union – CK Theater)

9:50 – 10:05         Break

10:10 – 12:00       Film and discussion: “Screenagers” (All Seniors – CK Theater)

12:00                    Dismissal

Please encourage your senior to attend this makeup day. We think students will find it valuable as we head in to the rest of the graduation season. Unfortunately, our buses will not be running. If your senior rides the bus, please plan for alternate transportation for the day.
