Highly Capable (Gifted)

Services for Highly Capable CKHS Students

The Mentor Program at Central Kitsap School District operates at the building level. Each high school has a staff member responsible for implementing a building plan for its highly capable learners.

At CKHS, the Building Highly Capable Services Coordinator works to:

  • become familiar with identified gifted students
  • communicate with parents
  • coordinate student enrichment opportunities

The essence of the position is to be an advocate for the highly capable child. The coordinator works with the highly capable student, teachers, and parents (or guardians) to make the school experience relevant and meaningful for a child who needs learning at a faster pace and more complex level.
