CKHS Distance Learning Model (as of 4/10/2020)

What will students be learning?

Teachers across the district have collaborated together on the most essential learning still to be delivered this spring. In the Distance Learning model, teachers will be focused on the essential learning for each course.  Student workload will be reduced as compared to traditional, in-class instruction. Each teacher will share a revised course syllabus with students and families by Monday, April 20, 2020.

How frequently will teachers communicate?

Teachers will be in regular communication at least weekly with students on their designated day/time block according to the schedule below.  Teachers are also available between 8am-3pm throughout the week via email. Please email your teachers directly with any questions. You can expect a response within 24 hours (school days only.)

CKHS Weekly Class Communication Schedule

You can expect to hear from your teachers at least once a week according to the schedule below.  Teachers may hold a Google Meet session during your period block. Please check each of your Google Classrooms daily for meeting invitations, assignments, and other communications.  Visit the “CKHS Closure Learning Resources” icon in ClassLink for a list of Google Classroom assignments and codes.

To help students and families organize, plan for, and predict learning needs within our distance learning model, below is the schoolwide expectation and structure that teachers will follow:

  • Teachers will communicate weekly learning targets and success criteria on their designated day.  If there is a class meeting, it will occur on the designated day/time block.

  • To maintain connection with each class, evidence of learning should be submitted at least weekly (as assigned by each teacher.)

  • Required classwork (including any Google Meets) is designed to take no more than 30-minutes per class per day.

To help organize efficiently, we encourage students to use a planner to plan out the week and ensure they are completing and submitting necessary work.
